| About us |
Moonlight Publishing was founded in 1980 to create a new kind of information books for young children. From the start our aim was to explain how things work and how different facts are related to one another, why the world is as it is and why people and things interact in everyday life as they do.
On a much smaller scale we do with artists' illustrations what DK do with photography. We have benefited from a long-term partnership with Gallimard-Jeunesse and from the extra-ordinary creativity of a team of illustrators who have assured our growing success over the last 20 years Through outstanding illustration and excellent design, accompanied by simple, clear texts, we set out to capture the imagination of our young readers so that they become fascinated by what they discover and want to find out more about the subject. Discovery has always been the theme behind our publishing and most of our series are named accordingly. Our most successful series, First Discovery, has sold over 40 million copies in 30 languages around the world, which proves that these books have a universal appeal.
We are unusual in a number of ways: -
We are highly specialised: we publish only illustrated non-fiction.
We publish only hardbacks - mostly at £6.99 - the same price as 8 years ago
We publish around 10 new titles and reprint around 70 titles every year
We publish in long series: 85 First Discovery, 15 Torchlights, 10 First Discovery Art
10 First Discovery Music
More than 50 of our current titles have sold over 10,000 copies.
Although we are a small independent company run by only two people, John and Penny Clement, we operate all over the world through publishing partnerships.
The majority of our readers are repeat buyers; many collect our series.
Many customers buy direct from us because they can't find the full range of our books in bookshops.
We supply orders received with payment by cheque or credit card and despatch orders of 3 or more books postage free.
